Position summary: Database Encryption Specialist

Location: Falls Church, VA

Skills Required: Database Encryption Specialist

  • Minimum of 5 years in a dedicated  Database Encryption role with at least 2 years focused in encryption and/or tokenization technology deployments and/or support in an enterprise environment
  • Experience working with relevant operating system security (Windows, Solaris, Linux, etc.)
  • Experience designing database encryption and/or tokenization solution architectures
  • Experience implementing database encryption and/or tokenization solutions in enterprise environments
  • Expertise in developing, implementing, testing, and configuring database encryption and tokenization technology solutions
  • Experience in developing the governance aspects of a database encryption program such as organizational models, policies and procedures, roles and responsibilities, incident response workflows, etc.
  • Experience assessing network and application architecture to determine optimal point of integration with encryption solution
  • Experience integrating database encryption and tokenization systems with business critical applications
  • Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements/laws such as PCI, HIPAA, SOX, etc.
  • Well-rounded understanding of the information security domains and their inter-relations (network security, application security, incident response, etc.)
  • Experience with various operating systems such as Windows Server, Unix, and Linux
  • Experience with database technologies such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL
  • Scripting experience with Python preferred
  • Experience gathering performance metrics to present to upper levels of management
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication, presentation, and technical writing skills

Desired Skills: Database Encryption Specialist

  • Experience in deploying and managing database encryption solutions
  • Proven problem solving skills from problem assessment to solution selection
  • Configuring, tuning, and troubleshooting of database encryption solutions such as Oracle TDE, MS TDE, Voltage SecureData, SafeNet, Secure Islands, HP Atalla, IBM Guardium Data Encryption, or Vormetric a plus
  • Understanding and knowledge of PKI and digital certificates
  • Experience with multiple vendor encryption products
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement technical aspects of PCI DSS 3.0, HIPAA, and other compliance standards (NIST Cyber Security Framework, COBIT, ISO)
  • Conceptual understanding of modern, distributed architecture, and API management
  • Good understanding of security concepts (Log management, Cryptography, Data Protection, and Network security

Education: Database Encryption Specialist must have a B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related work experience.


Certifications: Database Encryption Specialist must have at least one of the information security-related certs such as CISSP, GIAC, CISM, CISA, or Security Plus desired
