The CNO called upon the entire Navy to find ways to become more efficient and effective. To meet Seapower 21 objectives and to increase efficiency, the NAVSEA Warfare Centers established the Seaport Enhanced (Seaport-e) Multiple Award Contract (MAC) vehicle, using a web-based, e-business procurement portal to facilitate performance-based service acquisition, leverage buying power, improve business intelligence, and reduce cycle time.

Welspun

Welspun The Welspun Group is a USD 3 Billion group and is considered amongst one of the premier Global Line Pipe and Home Textile Companies today. We were entrusted with doing the SAP implementation for Welspun USA which is centered around their 67,200-square-foot distribution center in Charlotte, NC. The implementation started when the distribution center was about to become operational with their first batch of containers lying outside the distribution center waiting to be taken in. Not only did we manage to receive them in the SAP system which was freshly configured by us, but within three months time got the distribution center totally operational on SAP using hand held devices. While the implementation was being done, our onsite team not only managed to put in a business continuity plan, but also worked in tandem with the Welspun team to ensure that their business critical orders were fulfilled through SAP.

This implementation was done using an onsite-offshore hybrid model.

CRITI worked on two separate engagement with Aditya Birla Group. One for the whole group and other for the retail business:

Group IT Initiatives:
Currently, each group company as well as each country operation has a separate IT & Telecom infrastructure, information security policies, e-mail solutions, different domains, intranets and such. There are independent IT teams managing these data centers housing the above mentioned infrastructure & business solutions. In order to optimize the costs of telecom infrastructure, improve quality of services, tighten the information security, optimize the use of IT talent pool; and influence the overall organizational readiness for the growth, the central IT team of the Aditya Birla Group has put in place a strategy of consolidating the data centers. Approach taken for such an organization-wide initiative is to first take up the exercise of consolidating the data centers of South-East Asia region at one location. Creative IT was identified as the consulting partner for this assignment and would be responsible for co-coordinating this effort in conjunction with Aditya Birla Group IT team.Creative IT deployed a senior IT Infrastructure consultant on full-time basis working on-site with Central IT Team of Aditya Birla Group. Jointly, the team assessed the existing IT & Telecom infrastructure, defined the consolidation strategy, designed the relevant architecture, evaluated technology & service providers of highest reputation operating in this space and explored the hosting options at India, Singapore & Thailand. As a final deliverable, the team presented their recommendation of the above.

Aditya Birla Retail Initiative:
CRITI was responsible for setting up the Application Support Desk for Microsoft Dynamics NAV LS Retail; which was the retail ERP and PoS solution implemented by the company. We also supported the roll out initiative across 15 new stores.

Spencers Retail

Spencers Retail

Spencer's Retail Limited, part of the USD 3 Billion Turnover RPG Group is one of India's largest and fastest growing multi-format retailer with 275 stores, including 36 large format stores across 66 cities in India. Spencer's focuses on verticals like food and grocery, fruit and vegetables, electrical and electronics, home and office essentials, garments and fashion accessories, toys, food and personal care, music and books.

We were called into Spencer's retail when their SAP Retail implementation was through and they needed to roll out SAP to all their locations in the country. However, before doing so, based on internal business feedback, Spencer's felt the need to stabilize their implementation as there still seemed to be several gaps in the system and business user expectations. This mix of a strategic change management exercise coupled with bug fixing and process compliance was entrusted to us. Our SAP consulting team covered the areas of:

  • Category Management
  • Logistics Execution
  • Finance and Controlling
Within a four month period and traveling all over the country enabling change, we not only helped Spencer's get ready for mass roll-outs of the SAP Retail solution, but also got written accolades from their business users.

We have done two assignments with Unilever.
One for their master data management cell Akili, covering Asia, Africa, Middle-East and Turkey (Asia AMET), and the other for Hindustan Unilever.

For Akili, we were responsible for collaboratively working with their team in order to enable a data modeling exercise for analytics across the group. This dealt with Data Warehousing concepts as well as SAP’s BW/BI suite.

For Hindustan Unilever, we were called in after the first phase of SAP implementation was through to assist them in performance tuning of their SAP instance. This exercise involved studying and recommending performance improvement measures in the following areas:

  • SAP Basis
  • Custom ABAP enhancements
  • SAP BW/BI

Department of State (DOS)

We have successfully provided the full scale of data engineering services, from design to assessment to development and implementation, to the federal government. Currently, we support the Consolidated Consular Database (CCD)—a 20TB + Oracle based solution with over 94 million records used by multiple federal agencies – for the DOS. Our team expanded the CCD from a centralized repository for the data of key Consular applications fielded abroad to what it is today—an integrated repository of Consular data with sophisticated business logic, web portal access, and capabilities for interagency connectivity, load balancing, failover and redundancy.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

CITI currently works with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on the Biometric Storage System (BSS), which will improve identity management, reduce the burden on benefit applicants, and improve the sharing of person-centric case files on immigrants applying for U.S. citizenship. Utilizing any of the following agencies: Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of State (DOS), the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Department of Labor (DOL). Department of Labor (DOL)

CITI utilizes data warehouse and business intelligence concepts to further grow as a company. In using both these practices CITI aims to develop, maintain, and extend metadata repositories with organizationally-wide information. CITI provides an enterprise data model to map critical data elements and their interrelationships across the organization. CITI also advises and guides Data Reference Model (DRM) implementation with ready access to standard reference tables as well as identifying key information flows, control flows and interdependencies to structure complex and disorganized data.

Department of Transportation (DOT)

Also referred to by many other names and explanations, for CITI, software design and development is the set of processes and programming tools used to create the program or software product. The term may sometimes also imply the physical environment. An integrated development environment is one in which the processes and tools are coordinated to provide developers an orderly interface to and conveniently navigate through different interfaces.

Federal Rail Road Administration (FRA)

The FRA Project Office provides a full range of services to the Federal Railroad Administration's Office of Safety, including: data processing and maintenance, web site hosting and web maintenance, application development, and help desk support. The services provided are for the FRA's Railroad Safety Information System (RSIS). The RSIS is the principle monitoring strategy used by the FRA for the management, processing and reporting on railroad reported accidents/incidents; railroad inspections; highway-rail grade crossing data; and related railroad safety activities.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Using knowledge management CITI is able to provide information to users based on level of access. This process also allows CITI to augment, compare and clean information automatically to allow for better searching by a wider circle of authorized users. Knowledge management translates user terms to "term as stored" transparently along with the ability to cycle back new information into the system to maintain and ensure currency.

Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

CITI’s goal for SOA is a worldwide mesh of collaborating services, which are published and available for invocation on the Service Bus. Adopting SOA is essential to deliver the business agility and IT flexibility promised by Web Services. These benefits are delivered not only by viewing service architecture from a technological perspective and the adoption of Web Service protocols, but requiring the creation of a Service Oriented Environment that is based on the following key principals: Service is the important concept. Web Services are the set of protocols by which Services can be published, discovered and used in a technology neutral, standard form. SOA is not just architecture of services seen from a technology perspective, but the policies, practices, and frameworks by which we ensure the right services are provided and consumed. With SOA it is critical to implement processes that ensure that there are at least two different and separate processes - for provider and consumer. Rather than leaving developers to discover individual services and put them into context, the Business Service Bus is instead their starting point that guides them to a coherent set that has been assembled for their domain.
